Liberty and Security

The article that provoked the previous quote is Security or Liberty: A Logical Fallacy written by Jim Fedako. This is a worth while read, as it iss short and uses logic to dissect the "false dilemma fallacy" presented by liberty and security.

From his article:

To believe that the more the state threatens my person, and the more that the state invades my property, the greater my security is to believe the lie central to the state. And to watch fellow countrymen harassed, only to assume that the state must have reason for its harassment is to turn backs on the very same rights expected to protect us in the end.

Many people believe they can assure liberty with their wealth if their security is protected first by government. Hence, no dichotomy.

Please provide support for your assumption of what many believe?

I only ask that because most wealthy individuals pay for private security.

This is a discussion, not scientific discourse, so, no, I don't have to provide "support".

"I only ask that because most wealthy individuals pay for private security."

And that just bolsters my point, because that security only works at home. They can not protect themselves from the international world without the government.

Then I stand by my belief that most people with wealth do not trust the government to protect themselves or their money absolutely.

"They can not protect themselves from the international world without the government."

They can and do. Don't think any of these people hire out Blackwater for protection? Even the government does when they travel. They prefer the private arm forces of the public. Wonder why.

Abosolutely? Obviously not. Just enough so that foreign crazies do not destroy their ability to enjoy their wealth.

I wonder why these people would ever want to travel outside their residence in their neighborhood! Oh, wait, they live in America! That means that if America is protected, they are protected.
