Yes, politicians need authority to continue!
My only hope is that after the dollar bubble bursts, the DOD in the US will not have any cash left to fly home their hundreds of thousands of troops they would need to enforce a police state.
Here's an interesting quote by John F. Kennedy (an enemy of the FED):
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable.”
The American state knows this and is preparing.

Or perhaps it is more like cause and effect. Peaceful revolution or violent revolution are the result of certain politicoeconomic climates.
With the amount of wealth existing in the United States at the moment, it's hard to imagine the population becoming revolutionary.
When a family goes from being able to afford a $400000 house, owning 2 $35,000 SUVs, being able to send their kids to $20000/year schools, to not being able to do any of that once the dollar bursts, violence and crime will spread.
Most cities in the US are already reporting higher crime rates.
The problem is that, there aren't many institutions in place to provide support for revolution. This too will change though once people realize that the federal government has limits in its ability. People will look to more local governments for answers and states that have will want to stop supporting states that have-not.

Violence and crime are not revolution, and your assertion is an IF.
