If the Italians want to save their tradition, that's their decision. Big cheese is not the center of the Italian economy, however.

I love how you mock the trampling of individual rights and civil liberties. The obvious fallacy in democracy is that the majority of people typically make the wrong decision. Remember, individuals are intelligent, people are not.

Sorry, bub, individuals who opine X and individuals who opine Y. Such a situation = democracy. Now, if you are in favor of a dictatorship, then come out into the open and start supporting it.

I like the idea of a representative republic bound by a constitution which protects the rights of individuals.

How about amendments? Are you for an amendment process? Or are your "rights" the rights of an authoritarian who thinks he knows what is right for everyone?

I like amendments. The point is, an individual may think he knows what is right for everyone, even 60% of the population may think they know what is right for everyone, but they should not be able to place a law dictating to other 40% how they are supposed to live.

The amendment process is about outlining the right individuals have, but it is not about telling people how they SHOULD live. Amendments guiding principles or recommendations. Assuming the word "should" was just a sloppy mistake, amendments aren't about telling people how they have to live either.

Yes they are. The Bill of Rights is a document that outlines the shoulds of government. The amendment process is the processes of removing or adding more shoulds.
