“You know, I had to pretty much beg, borrow and steal. The system is not set up to help somebody from the working class make a movie like this and get the truth out there.Moore is saying that capitalism tried to beat down his message, but because he magically "put the light of day on it" he was able to do what no other would be able to do! He actually thinks that he was able to make millions of dollars IN SPITE of living in a capitalistic society. What an idiot. Because he lives in a pseudo-free and pseudo-capitalistic society, those in powerful positions could not stop him from making his documentary or publishing his book. Capitalism and free-markets allowed him to sell his material and earn his fortune.
In fact, in Fahrenheit 9/11 if you remember, capitalism, the Disney Corporation, tried to kill that film--tried to make it so that people couldn’t see it. My book Stupid White Men--Harper Collins tried to kill that book so that people couldn’t see it. It's only because I put the light of day on it and told people what was going on did people get the chance to see these things.”
Yep, Moore, you fought capitalism back with your magical weapon, the "light of day". You really showed him! Indeed. Idiot.

Sorry, it is you who is the idiot. Moore did not say anything about the money he made. He said that certain corporations, capitalist corporation, wanted to bury his work because they didn't like his message. This is True. It is also true that he and his organizers made "millions" of the books and movies he has made. He didn't deny otherwise. So, yes, he is making money within the capitalist system, but that system itself is also trying to stop him. Take Chomsky for example. Chomsky does not publish his books with any of the major book publishers. Why? Because they don't like his message. He publishes with "Black Rose Books". Black Rose meaning anarchist.
"Moore did not say anything about the money he made."
Read linked article.
"So, yes, he is making money within the capitalist system, but that system itself is also trying to stop him."
LOL, You're an idiot too! There's always going to be negative forces within a capitalist system. This isn't cotton candy land! Moore is a HUGE CAPITALIST!
Yes Chris, the "system" is out to get him, but he beat it back with his "light of day". Lol.
"Take Chomsky for example. Chomsky does not publish his books with any of the major book publishers. Why? Because they don't like his message. He publishes with "Black Rose Books". Black Rose meaning anarchist."
And because he lives in a capitalistic society, a publisher has been able to make money publishing a message other publishers wouldn't.
Its like the Austrian Economists down at the Mises Institute. They publish their own books and are able to because they live in a free, capitalistic society.
Chomsky and Moore bite the hand that feeds them. They're idiots (more so Moore, I don't know enough about Chomsky to say that definitively).
"Read linked article."
Now what? The point is that certain corporations rejected his film because it said the wrong thing.
"LOL, You're an idiot too! There's always going to be negative forces within a capitalist system. This isn't cotton candy land! Moore is a HUGE CAPITALIST!"
Ah, no, he isn't. He has made a lot of money, though, but that doesn't make him a capitalist.
"Yes Chris, the "system" is out to get him, but he beat it back with his "light of day". Lol."
Indeed. The system does try to stop speech and actions that threaten it.
"And because he lives in a capitalistic society, a publisher has been able to make money publishing a message other publishers wouldn't."
Maybe so, but it still shows that the powers that protect capitalism didn't like his message. You can't deny this.
"Its like the Austrian Economists down at the Mises Institute. They publish their own books and are able to because they live in a free, capitalistic society."
Well, that's fine and dandy, but to assume that "capitalistic society" is the only choice is rather deterministic.
"Chomsky and Moore bite the hand that feeds them. They're idiots (more so Moore, I don't know enough about Chomsky to say that definitively)."
Whatever. "Biting the hands that feed them" is another way of saying that they attack capitalism within capitalism.

That he utilizes capital to make money makes him a capitalist.
"Indeed. The system does try to stop speech and actions that threaten it."
Lol..."the system"? Who is part of "the system"?
"it still shows that the powers that protect capitalism didn't like his message. You can't deny this."
Lol..the powers that protect capitalism? No, the powers that have tried to stop before were not trying to "protect capitalism". They were trying to protect their own hides.
"Well, that's fine and dandy, but to assume that "capitalistic society" is the only choice is rather deterministic."
To assume you can wipe out capitalism and maintain individual liberty exhibits an ignorance about what it means to live in a free society.
""Biting the hands that feed them" is another way of saying that they attack capitalism within capitalism. "
No, its a way of saying they are benefiting from living in a capitalist society while attacking capitalism.
"That he utilizes capital to make money makes him a capitalist."
No, he makes money while fighting for his cause. The money made is incidental, not the primary reason he makes documentaries.
"Lol..."the system"? Who is part of "the system"?"
Those who defend, are, and justify the current political system.
"Lol..the powers that protect capitalism? No, the powers that have tried to stop before were not trying to "protect capitalism". They were trying to protect their own hides."
If there wasn't an effort to protect capitalism, we would all be communists right now. The McCarty Era is only the most obvious example.
"To assume you can wipe out capitalism and maintain individual liberty exhibits an ignorance about what it means to live in a free society."
"Wipe out" is your term, not mine. And, yes, people can choose communism over capitalism and still maintain individual liberty vis-a-vis the state.
"No, its a way of saying they are benefiting from living in a capitalist society while attacking capitalism."
Again, "benefiting" is not their primary goal.
"No, he makes money while fighting for his cause. The money made is incidental, not the primary reason he makes documentaries."
So I'm sure he donates it all, splits it evenly with all of his employees, or gives it all to the government to help support the welfare state.
"If there wasn't an effort to protect capitalism, we would all be communists right now. The McCarty Era is only the most obvious example."
I think the government ruining the lives of suspected communists is a bit different than a particular publishing house not willing to publish Moore's book.
"And, yes, people can choose communism over capitalism and still maintain individual liberty vis-a-vis the state."
How is liberty maintained vis-a-vis the state?
"Again, "benefiting" is not their primary goal."
I'm glad you feel as if you know every thought Michael Moore has. He benefits from it, he enjoys benefiting from it, and he sees no reason why the luxuries he has in America shouldn't be his to have. Read his books, the hypocrisy is oozing.
"So I'm sure he donates it all, splits it evenly with all of his employees, or gives it all to the government to help support the welfare state."
Yes, he pays his taxes, pays his employees high wages and health care (he said so), and makes political donations. Again, everyone wants to consume, but consumption is not capitalism.
"I think the government ruining the lives of suspected communists is a bit different than a particular publishing house not willing to publish Moore's book."
Nope. Both are symptoms of a effort that is well-documented. All the major newspapers peddled anti-communist propaganda in one form or another, and still do.
"How is liberty maintained vis-a-vis the state?"
Armed populace, economic amendments, bill of rights.
"I'm glad you feel as if you know every thought Michael Moore has. He benefits from it, he enjoys benefiting from it, and he sees no reason why the luxuries he has in America shouldn't be his to have. Read his books, the hypocrisy is oozing."
I'm glad you feel as if you know every thought Michael Moore has. He donates it, he enjoys talking about it, and he sees no reason why he shouldn't pay his employees high wages with benefits. He's not a communist, he's a social democrat. Read his books, the arguments are unassailable, which is why you feed the need to attack his character.
"Both are symptoms of a effort that is well-documented."
I didn't know you were a conspiracy theorist.
"All the major newspapers peddled anti-communist propaganda in one form or another, and still do."
The New York Times?
"Armed populace, economic amendments, bill of rights."
The problem is that the government will eventually be forced to violate all of these rights in an effort to maintain control.
"Read his books, the arguments are unassailable, which is why you feed the need to attack his character."
No, thats why YOU feel the need to attack Ron Paul's character. Moore's selfish, hypocritical, idiotic dogma is why I feel the need to attack his intelligence. Moore's network is over $50 million. Yep, hasn't benefited one bit from attacking the hand that feeds him.
"I didn't know you were a conspiracy theorist."
It is not a conspiracy. It was done in the open. The Republicans of the time called for the dismantling of "the Dictator and his machine" early on. The last 60 years has been that effort.
"The New York Times?"
The NYT is not communist, bonehead.
"The problem is that the government will eventually be forced to violate all of these rights in an effort to maintain control."
Not if the populace is armed to the teeth and are genuinely participating. You see, Josh, you are making the same arguments the loyalists, absolutists, and monarchists made about a potential bourgeoisie revolution before it happened. Tyranny is not a necessary result, as we have seen. Even France is now a flourishing bourgeoisie democracy.
"No, thats why YOU feel the need to attack Ron Paul's character."
Ron Paul is not associated with the Republican party?
"Moore's selfish, hypocritical, idiotic dogma is why I feel the need to attack his intelligence."
You can't attack his arguments, so you attack his character. I attack Ron Paul's arguments AND character.
"Moore's network is over $50 million. Yep, hasn't benefited one bit from attacking the hand that feeds him."
Whoop-dee-doo. Making money is not his intent.
"Not if the populace is armed to the teeth and are genuinely participating."
As I said...The problem is that the government will eventually be forced to violate all of these rights in an effort to maintain control. All countries that go down this road end up with governments which attempt to disarm the populace.
"Whoop-dee-doo. Making money is not his intent."
You know whats great about Ron Paul? When he released a best selling book, like End The Fed, he donates ALL of the profits to organizations that support his message like the Foundation for Rational Economics and Education. Let me know when Moore starts donating all of his profits.
