Random thoughts and interesting tidbits. . .
. . .focused on current economical and political events.
"But rightful liberty is unobstructed action according to our will within limits drawn around us by the equal rights of others. I do not add 'within the limits of the law,' because law is often but the tyrant's will, and always so when it violates the right of an individual."
Thomas Jefferson

How did that citizen give taxes if he is unemployed? The cartoon therefore doesn't make any sense.
Who said he was unemployed?
How does the cartoon make sense, then?
They government takes money from the taxpayer to simply give it back to the taxpayer. Thats what I like about it.
The actual humour is more related to the a project here in NS the government is giving stimulus cash to. When presenting the money, they had done up a big novelty check with the Conservative Party logo on it..caused a bit of a controversy.
No, it doesn't. It takes the money and gives it to people to work new jobs. JESUS CHRIST>>>
Jobs that produce what?
Doesn't matter. If people are spending money, then the economy works. That's why the military is such a huge part of the economy. It pumps redistributed wealth back into the economy, even though the military does not produce anything, only a service.
The military is such a big part of the economy because of the amount of tax dollars the government funnels into it.
If people could choose where to put those dollars, the military wouldn't be that big of a part of the economy.
It absolutely matters what those jobs produce because if they are not meeting an existing demand at a profitable price then they are a drag on the economy; a cost to society as a whole.
So, jobs that produce what?
Not at all. As long as the money is spent and redistributed, and then spent by the military personnel, which it is, it creates an economy. Economies are systems where something is produced and money is spent. That is what they are.
And, no, it doesn't matter if those jobs are useless. Useless is just your subjective appraisal of the situation (or similar examples, because I am against the military)
"Useless is just your subjective appraisal of the situation"
Wrong. Useless is not my subject appraisal. Useless is everyone's subjective appraisal. Digging a hole just to fill it up again is a useless job. It serves no benefit; there is no demand for it.
Stealing wealth to pay people to do jobs that people would otherwise not pay to have done is a waste because there is no demand for it; this waste represents a redirection of wealth into USELESS JOBS. If there was a demand for it, there would be no need to steal the wealth in the first place, people would choose to direct their wealth into those jobs, and then they would be therefore NOT USELESS as they are serving the demand that exists.
